November song

Posted by Tabbycat , 21 November 2014 · 548 views

November is the cruelest month ( whatever Elliot said). There is only work and dark nights and fog.  In the morning I gulp a mouthful of clean air , before I submerge into transport and breathed air and insincerity, but after Five Working days comes the Weekend!!!
I wake when I want to and the coolest knife edge of light is slicing the clouds. The back door opens, the cats stumble out and sniff frost stiffened geraniums and brisk off to crap on the neighbour's thoughtfully well turned vegetable patch.
As the light strengthens my garden comes into focus : blackened mint, blasted dahlias, up turned pots and deep mud, but there are birds already on the feeder ; green finches hunkering down amongst the seed and scolding great tits pushing themselves a space. A few climbing roses are still flowering, improbably, definantly lip-stick pink in amongst the black spotted leaves. Ugly, tasty, multifoliate curly kale leaves are each delineated by a dusting of frost and the sprouts make baby fists of green down their stocky stems .

So much to be done, so little time!
The year draws on and is incomparably lovely in every season,  and all I need is the time to see it ,smell it, touch it and taste it.

A beautiful piece of writing.

Very nice!
