Sorry not tried this Ginger but I am very interested to see how you get along with it. I shall be very tempted to ask for it myself if there are positive replies. B.O.L (best of Luck) Linds

Mark was on that but he felt really spaced out and disconencted (if you know what I mean!!). He is now on Amatriptyline and after initial side effects its really helping with his sleep at night and he seems to be coping better in general. Modafinal didn't help with his fatigue but everyone is different!! He is on LDN and that is the thing that has really help with the fatigue.

I was in the process of obtaining LDN when I was prescibed with Modafinil. It is rediculous that consultants can prescribe naltraxone at 50 mg doses to smack heads, and not to MS suffers in 2mg doses.

DON'T GET ME STARTED!

I will wait to see how I fair with modafinil.

If no good, I will try LDN.

Modafinil is a drug used for narcolepsy. My neuro prescribed it for me about 6 months ago because I complained of fatigue. He told me only to take it in the morning because any later it was likely to keep me awake at night. I didn't take it in the end, didn't feel my fatigue was so bad that I needed it at the time.

Why do us MS patients get all our drugs second hand from other illnesses!

Modafinil for narcolepsy, amandatine for parkinsons and LDN for smack heads!

Why can't we have one of our of our own! Apart from wacky backy!

As Chris said, Modafinil is a drug for narcolepsy. It doesn't help the fatigue that is not the sleepy kind - it will only be of help for the kind of fatigue where you (suddenly or not) feel sleepy. I was prescribed to take one in the morning for the first two weeks, then to take another one at lunchtime after the initial two weeks. I found it helped the "I must go to sleep NOW" sensation I can get, where my eyelids suddenly want to shut tight and I feel I must go and sleep immediately or I risk falling asleep with my head on the keyboard, lol4.gif !
I haven't had any side-effects from it that I've noticed.

More on Modafinil here: http://www.mstrust.org.uk/atoz/modafinil.jsp

As for the variety of drugs we're given, don't forget the many for epilepsy such as Clonazepam and Tegretol! Not to mention Sativex (for MS) being as it's a derivative of cannabis rofl.gif
