Comedians autobiographies are something I so often start and then end up being disappointed. I never usually bother with celebrity autobiographies as so often they have no story to tell aside from that of being famous. I prefer 'real' people autobiographies about drug abuse, miserable childhoods and other such life journeys. I do however often pick up a comedians book if they are someone I like, in the hope that even though they don't necessarily have a story to tell, they will recount their life in an amusing way for my reading pleasure. So often I find I get half way through and leave them, but I got Michael McIntyres book from the charity shop the other day and I am smitten.
It is just like one long stand up set, you can hear his voice saying all of it as you read and it's not failed to make me laugh at least once a paragraph.

Just thought I'd share as it is a very good, funny and easy read that I would highly recommend, laughter is after all - the best medicine

Hi Mustard

MM is not my fav comedian but at least he is better than Peter Kaye. I had more laughs being dx'd than watching one of his concerts. Yet Northern English types think he's the dogs bollocks. I just think he's bollocks. I watched him recently on Jonathan Ross and it was just painful to watch.

I like Jerry Sadowitz, Jimmy Carr, Jo brand and Lisa Lampenelli.

The last woman is outrageous an example

Hello Mustard,

I read Michael McIntye's book a while ago, think I had it last Christmas, not the one just gone.

I too found I could hear him talking as I read the book, had me in hoots I must say.

Jo Brand is a great comedienne for me. Think she's great on 'Have I got news for you'. Definitely keeps them all in check.

I love Jo Brand too. Andy, are you a Bill Hicks fan? I love(d) Bill Hicks. That's interesting you don't like MM, what is it you don't like about him? I think he's great!
I also love Eddie Izzard, although am disappointed by his lack of humour on twitter!

I've not heard of Lisa Lampwotsit, will check her out, always after new comedy!

Hi Mustard, I'm not a big fan of Michael McIntyre myself, but Bill Hicks - now you're talking. He is right up my street. He's funny, of course, but most of what he says is just so true. He's a bit of a hero to me, up there with John Lennon and Thomas Hardy. Sad he died so young.

Yeah it is a real shame, he really did live fast die young. He would've been 50 this year I believe. I did like his whole outlook on life.

Ladies,

Bill Hicks is one of these trendy righty-on-comics where its more social commentary than joke telling. Serious types think he's funny, present company excluded of course. A mild smile at the cleverness at it all.

As far as MM is concerned, his voiced is irritating to start with.

Steven Wright is clever and funny

I agree that it's Michael McIntyre's voice that irritates me, so I find it difficult to concentrate on his joke telling.

As for Bill Hicks, I stand by what I said - call me a serious type haha. It is more social commentary Andy, you're right, but most of his views are pretty astute and spot on. It's a shame more people in this world don't have the balls to speak out on controversial subjects as he has; it would be a far better place if they did.
