Okay the way this diet works is that you have 4 food packs a day in the form of shakes, soups and food packs, mixed with water, 2-3 lts of water and 1/2 pint of skimmed milk allowance a day.I asked my ms nurse if it was safe for me to do so as I had done it before
I started this on Monday. So far going great the first few days are a nightmare carb withdrawals, but the scales are going down already. If I can lose 5lb by monday i will have lost 1 stone, on my first week. Obviously I wont lose that every week, but the idea is to lose a stone a month. I dont even need to exercise to lose the weight, but will be starting swimming as soon as i have lost 3 to 4, to feel confident in a costume.

Hi Lynn,
Sounds like you're off to a good start. What did your MS nurse say when you asked her about it? Presumably that it was okay?
I would say be careful though and listen to your body - I tried low (or no actually) carb a few years back and after just a few days was so confused I forgot simple things like which tap was which, or which key was for my front door, and that was pre MS!
It sounds a bit like the lighter life diet where the idea is to withdraw food totally treating it like an addiction that has to be abstained from, so you just have shakes and soups etc - I know some people have found that works for them. I guess it's just a case of finding what works for you.
But do be careful as low carb does bring risks, as the body goes in to ketosis which can be bad for the kidneys. But if it's a proper diet plan with shakes and things then one would hope it is properly planned out.
Good luck with it and let us know how you get on.

Hi Lynne
Losing a stone within a week seems extreme I can't believe you are burning off fat. If you were it would be putting quite a strain on your body. To hold 5 lb in your hand and say that you are going to lose that in 2 days doesn't seem possible without resorting to liposuction
3-4lb a week would be the most I would be expecting. Are you weighing yourself each morning with no clothes after *hem* your constitutional and before drinking any liquids. Make sure the scales are in the same place each morning.
Anyway your heading in the right direction so keep up the good work and try to avoid dramatic weight drops.
