Thank you so much for taking an interest in this study!

I am undertaking a research project as part of my Rehabilitation Psychology MSc within the Institute of Work, Health & Organisations (I-WHO), which is a postgraduate institute of applied psychology at the University of Nottingham. Dr Neil Coulson, a Chartered Psychologist with the British Psychological Society, a Registered Health Psychologist with the Health Professions Council, and an international expert in the role of online support communities and healthcare, is my Project Supervisor.

The purpose of this research is to investigate MS patients' experiences within online MS support groups and forums, and the impact membership and discussions have had on them. This will provide a unique insight into the concerns and needs of individuals living with MS and the effectiveness of online forums in addressing these needs. The study aims to recognise and raise awareness of individuals' health and social outcomes from membership with an online forum. This research is crucial to provide a basis for informing future research, health communication, and patient care.

To find out more about myself, the study, and to gain access to the questionnaire if you wish, please visit:

Responses are greatly appreciated!

Just quickly wanted to say a MASSIVE THANK YOU to all those who have taken their time to fill in the questionnaire or have even just considered it wink2.gif

If you're in two minds, it might help to remind you again that all responses are completely confidential and are incredibly valuable to future healthcare in MS. So please please spare up to half an hour of your time to respond! help2.gif

Thanks again,

Hannah

Hi everyone,

Hope you are all doing ok! I'm desperately in need of some more responses to my questionnaire so I'm sorry to bother you with yet another plea for help!

The objective of the questionnaire is to find out your opinions of the forum. I'm looking at any potential pro's and con's and whether MS patients should be advised to join forums such as this one.

I understand that it may be quite a tiring process so maybe you could save your answers and come back to them to break it up over a few days?

I really want this investigation to be a success, least of all for my benefit but for my partner's mum who has struggled with MS for a number of years and for all of you affected by the condition who are entitled to more research to be carried out in this field and some answers!

Thanks so so much for all of your help clapping.gif

Done. It passed the time until lunch. :wink2:

If at some point you are able to leave a summary of the results of your survey, I am sure you will find an eager audience.

We're just two lost souls swimming in a fish bowl, year after year,

Running over the same old ground.

What have we found?

The same old fears.

About Us

Founded in 2004, MS People UK is a community website and discussion forum by and for people with Multiple Sclerosis as well as for friends, families, supporters and those interested in this disabling condition.

If you’re newly diagnosed or want to ask about possible first symptoms, or if you’ve had Relapse Remit, Secondary or Primary Progressive MS for some time, a welcoming group of fellow MS sufferers is here to chat with you about MS symptoms, diagnosis and treatments.

The atmosphere is friendly whilst being compassionate, supportive and caring. Members also post about a variety of subjects not related to MS, as well as share jokes, talk about their hobbies, have fun, and more.

The MS People Forum is not responsible for advice or information supplied by members. We suggest you seek medical advice before trying anything.
