How to Reply in a Topic

There are several ways of replying in a topic.

- Using the "Reply to this topic" box at the bottom of each page of a topic.

All previous posts will be above the this box, so you can scroll upwards to see what you're replying to. This is the quickest and easiest way. When you first click in the box, it will expand a bit.

- Using the "Quote" button under each individual post.

What this does is to "quote" the entire post of the person's post you're replying to. The quoted post goes into a box that embeds the post. To add your reply, type it below, not inside, this box.

Quoting an entire post is not always desirable, especially if it's long.  Instead, a much better way is to highlight a phrase or paragraph, and a "Quote this" will pop up. Click on it and it will automatically insert the highlighted phrase or paragraph into the Reply box for you. You can repeat this several times in one reply.

Most people tend to not use the "Quote" button and just start their reply, using the normal reply method described above, by addressing the person they're replying to by name. It's only used when you want to specifically reply to something in particular that someone said in their post when that post is several posts away from the most recent one. You then type your reply below the quoted area. It's advisable to first delete any bits in the quote that are not relevant to your reply, so as to help avoid having to scroll past a long quote that's not relevant to your reply.

About Us

Founded in 2004, MS People UK is a community website and discussion forum by and for people with Multiple Sclerosis as well as for friends, families, supporters and those interested in this disabling condition.

If you’re newly diagnosed or want to ask about possible first symptoms, or if you’ve had Relapse Remit, Secondary or Primary Progressive MS for some time, a welcoming group of fellow MS sufferers is here to chat with you about MS symptoms, diagnosis and treatments.

The atmosphere is friendly whilst being compassionate, supportive and caring. Members also post about a variety of subjects not related to MS, as well as share jokes, talk about their hobbies, have fun, and more.

The MS People Forum is not responsible for advice or information supplied by members. We suggest you seek medical advice before trying anything.
