Lost 8lbs in two weeks.. The diet is quite good Jen.. My trouble was not eating enough, and when i did eat included too much bread etc.. Being less active is a big part of my weight gain.. :rofl2: at you and pudding Gaynor.. Your a tease! :rofl2:

I even bought Andrew a box of black magic chocs for valentines day,but only because i would not touch them... I hate dark chocs :lolsign:

Seriously, i am being a good girl at moment.. and managing to keep inside of a size 14 :howdy: Do they let you keep your knickers on for the lumbar puncture proceedure? :rofl2: Because I don't fancy flashing me big fat bum :lolsign: And what if i let a bottom burp out :rofl2:

Oh! I am dreading it.... :lolsign:

Back to driving :lolsign: Whats public transport like these days :lolsign:

You have to laugh..

Michelle,

:howdy: , yes I kept all my clothes on for the LP. It's doneabove the knicker line (as long as you aint wearing chest & back warmer knickers you should be fine!

As far as 8lb in 2wks goes , well done to you :lolsign: and once you get going it only inspires you further I think. Well my diets usually last for a month -tops- before it starts goin pete tong..... so maybe not that inspiring LOL !

Anyway as for 'bottom burping' you'll have done all that way before in the panicking stage prior! I didn't get much chance to panic as I was told and then it was done 20 mins later. Thankfully I'd hardly eaten anything all day so a grumbling belly was more of an issue for me!

When you going for the LP anyway? ....anymore on your IV date too?

getting back to the driving...:wavebunny:

the dvla form arrived this morning...mostly 4 pages of tick boxes easy enough to fill in. I will send it off tomorrow. I had to mention that my vertigo ( effects sight), and obviously would not drive, and that i have left foot drop and couldn't drive a manual clutch. Mostly everything else does't effect my driving...

mish..how did you get on filling the form in?

Hi Jen,

Form filling went ok.. Like you said; it was just a matter of ticking boxes... I found it a tad upsetting because I love driving and would really hate not being able to do so.

When I saw my neurologist last, he did say that he would write a report if I needed any help with dwp, but i did not give a single thought to the dvla at the time..

If his report is anything like the letter he sent to myself and my g.p I just dread to think what the dvla will make of the report the neuro and neurosurgeon will send to him..

Then there's the question of the meds that i am on.... I guess time will tell.

I did pop into my local council office on Friday, and pick up an application form for a bus pass. Your allowed to travel free if your in receipt of dla, blue badge holder and there's something else, but i can't remember what it is for the life of me...

I thought if push comes to shove I will have to rely more on public transport. Or get my car changed..

Gee wizzzzzz.. If it's not one thing it's another :rose:

I feel a bit more positive about it all at mo. Might not feel that way tomorrow  You know what it's like..

Hope it turns out well for you jen.

Love Michelle :pullhair:

Thanks Mish

I know it's sad at the thought of not being so independent isn't it...I haven't driven for a year. I managed to get another 3 yrs on DLA and will noewbe applying for a mobility automatatic car.

I am lucky only to be on sleep causing meds at night, and i am using homeopathic meds during the day...I hope it will be okay too...

Thans for the info on the bus pass... i didn't know about that so with a blue badge that helps me out too.

take care sweetie let me know what your result is when you get it( i was told it could take up to 6wks but they will try and inform within 4)

Jens,

If my memory serves corectly, you are in Scotland and there are new passes coming out within weeks.

The bus pass situation is changing as from 1 April 2006 in Scotland. It is improving and will no longer just be for region wide free bus travel off peak. It will be national within Scotland in any region, on any bus, at anytime of the day.

It means you can travel from Uig in Skye to Carlisle or Berwick totally free on any bus service.

This is advertised on local radio and I ill listen out for the advert next time as it tells of a government website.

I do not know what needs to be done to get a new style pass from scratch, but if you have an older one the forms were automatically sent out in November of last year and it was a case of returning them to a Post Office.

There was a post last year about this and it was recently updated.

After months of waiting a letter from the dvla arrived this morning. I have to make an appointment with a optician in a nearby town to arrange a field vision test. This is an independent test specifically for the dvla.

This will help the dvla make a decision with regard to my being able to continue driving.

Over the last couple of months i have had 5 field vision tests. Some of which i have failed. Hence futher tests! I guess what will be will be. Still there is always my trusty Andrew to drive me around :lmao: Thing is i swear i am a better driver than him. Then women drivers are better than men...arent they? :lmao:

Michelle,

Tell Andrew to keep a look out for Teddy in his plane, they might bump into each other up in the sky!

Ron,

It will have to be in the day time if they are to bump into each other. Andrew is colour blind, and the flying instructor told him that he would not be able to fly at night.

So Teddy will be quite safe flying during darkness :lmao:

Teddy :howdy: is scared of the dark and only goes out during daylight, he is off to New York this week, but I will be sure to tell him to be careful when he gets back.

Take care and leave the lead-lined stilletoes behind! :lmao:

Had my field vision test today... that was requested by the dvla. The optician did a very nice thing for me. He actually told me the results (without me asking).

The test he performed was fine... NO Problems. It will be interesting to find out what the dvla will report.

Heard from the dvla a few days ago, and forgot to mention it. My licence has been medically restricted. I had to sign a form saying that i did not need any controls fitted to my car and that was that. Perhaps I will be in reciept of my driving licence within the next couple of weeks.

Hello everyone! Please can I have some advice? I have developed optic neuritis, this is my first bout of it and at the moment it's just painful and absolutely no change to my vision. It's just in my left eye. I'm aware that I have to tell dvla of this and I'm already on a 3 year restricted licence- is this likely to effect my being allowed to drive? Thank you X

    • aching and twitching legs are driving me mad.

Hello folks. Dont normally post but am always reading them. Advice and wise words needed please. I've had issues with my legs for some time well over a year now. They ache and twitch on a daily basis. Some days I feel like I've run a marathon where in reality I've not moved off the sofa. I'm taking pregablin .I suppose my real worry is that my ms has moved up a notch from rrms to spms. And it scares me!!! Im still driving, working and generally maintaining a house hold but im finding it difficult.

    • Driving licence blues

As Marina thinks it's too quiet on the forum I thought I would subject you to my driving licence replacement concerns. I have a short term licence that I have to renew every three years (as many of us do). It expires end of March. My Mobility car contract expires end of May. Three years ago it took them so long to do their checks and replace my licence that Motability would not allow me to be a named driver of my new car. As luck would have it, and after a lot of last minute frantic phone calls and faxes, I managed to get added as the driver just a day or two before I was due to collect the car.   I am now hoping the DVLA and my Neuro get their act together this time so I dont have a repeat of the fiasco of three years ago. This time I will start chasing earlier.   The DVLA do allow you to continue driving if your licence expires while they are still doing their checks but Motability insist on seeing a valid licence before you can sit behind the wheel.   However, in the meantime I have a pleasure of car hunting. Time to get a new one. Last time I picked a BMW 1Series M-Sport Coupe. A great car to drive but not very practical. This time I am looking for something a little more practical.   Of course, if driving licences and car choosing is what I am calling a problem then I have very little to complain about.   Regards,   John

    • MS and driving

Hello, I've only just been diagnosed with MS. The reason that I went to the doctor earlier this year is that I have continued tingling in my hands which annoyed me - nothing else and it's not stopped me from doing anything at all. The neurologist diagnosed me with MS about 10 days ago, and today I got a big envelope in the post with all sorts of information about MS, including the advice that I should contact the DVLA. I've just done a little search on here re people's experiences with this (also being VERY worried that my van insurance will sky rocket!), and what I've read really scared the living daylights out of me! For one thing because I've just handed in my notice at work, because I intend to go self employed from next month on, as a professional dog walker! You get the picture: driving every day, loading and unloading dogs and a day not worked is a day not paid! Now I appear to be having "benign MS"; I've had optic neuritis 11 and 8 years ago, and at the time nobody seemed to make a connection between that and MS, so I've been blissfully ignorant all that time, and this tingling in my hands that I have now neither has any effect on my ability to drive nor on taking dogs for walks. I'm meant to be starting on 2 January, but what if I call the DVLA on Monday and they revoke my licence straight away? I've still got 2 weeks left on my current job as well, that requires a 50 mile round trip every day! What on earth am I going to do?? And what would a 3 year licence mean? Will I have to do a test every 3 years? I'm so glad I passed mine, I don't think I could do it again. Please help! :( :(

    • Limboland is driving me nuts

Hi, I'm new to this site and this is the first time I have ever posted about my symptoms etc.   I'm a 28 year old professional who, as my name suggests, lives in Wales. I'm married and have a 4 year old daughter.   My symptoms originally started with a large swelling in my right calf with severe pain. Various dx have been suggested and have ranged from cancer (soft tissue sarcoma), to neuromyotonia, focal myositis and most recently it has been suggested that it may be MS.   I have been experiencing vibrations / tingling up and down both sides of my body (arms and legs), and have also had numbness in both legs / feet and my left arm. This has been extremely worrying especially when my leg completely lost feeling whilst driving down the M4. I have muscle spasms (which develop into severe cramp) primarily in the right calf, but these have now spread throughout my body and can occur absolutely anywhere, and I mean anywhere! I also suffer from tiredness/fatigue, and sometimes it is all I can do to get out of bed to get ready for work. I stumble quite often and have fallen umpteen times.   Walking has become more and more difficult, and for the past 18 months I have had to rely on the use of crutches / wheel chair due to the pain.   I have recently had an MRI of my brain and neck, VEP and LP. Both MRI and VEP came back with 'no significant abnormalities' but my LP came back showing a large increase in IgG Protein and Total protein. I have asked my GP what this means, only to be told that it is a sign I could have a CNS problem.   I feel like I have been taking pills non-stop for the past two years and have just been prescribed Tegretol (carbamazepine), having just come off 600mg daily of Pregablin, and before that 6,000mg daily of Gabapentin. I also take 10mg Tremazepam daily.   Do these symptoms sound like they could be MS? I am so confused by all the different named conditions that are thrown at me, without so much as a clear explanation.   Any help / advice would be greatly received, and I must apologise for waffling on. It's what we lawyers tend to do best!   Thanks
