Will you be watching the potential cure for ms ch4 Thursday night?

Stem cell based again. Is it another false dawn?

I've had ms diagnosed for 28 years and I've become very sceptical of these 'cures'.

What's your view?

Best wishes

Peter

Didn't know it was on Peter, will try and watch. The scientific process of understanding MS has proved to be a slow one. Having been on one MS trail, I quickly saw how much effort and cost was going into the matter of effective medication to treat the condition. That agin is different from a 'cure' You never know when a breakthrough might come but I won't hold my breath. It will be an interesting program to watch.

I hope it is what it is supposed to be. I wonder if chemo is needed.I would have thought israels incidence of ms would have beIng low though.

Looked promising to start with but alas seemed to fail.

Where was chemo to begin from scratch with stem cells?

Hopefully an aid for further research.

Best wishes Peter

I have just watched it. Well it was a very interesting program. One thing about it was the way it gave a good insight into what MS 'looked like' to those not effected. There was also some very interesting points made by the specialist regarding MS generally.

As far as that particular treatment was concerned, it was clear that a lot more studies would need to be conducted before any scientific judgment could be made.

The chap in the program was clearly driven to try and overcome MS. This is NOT a view of how I myself try and deal with the fact I have MS. I don't think it is very productive to look at the problem as something to overcome, rather it is something to first accept and then work with in order to achieve all you can. That is not to say that I will be first in the queue if and when a real cure comes along. At present that is not the case and it can be very counter productive to spend your limited energy on fighting something you can't win.

    • Miracle cure?

Heard the news and thought wow they have got this stem cell stuff right at last. Ten had a look at the reports on the internet news. Guess what , its for relapsing and remitting.   Followed by saying we dont really know if these people would of improved naturally anyway. So why are they not giving it to progressive as surely if it was a cure it would work on them?   I dont even know what sort of MS I have, I used to have some horrible relapses in the past and miraculously got over them, yes left with some damage that I feel now from time to time, I have not had a proper relapse for some time. So again is it 5 years of sativex and 7 of LDN or would I have improved anyway?   I hope they try it on secondary or primary progressive, Why dont they?? Thats what would impress me. What are your thoughts? Friends and family are now going to tell us there is a cure now.

    • cure for MS

Sorry if this what I'm writing bothers anyone but its TRUE!People with MS are on there own 90% of nuro doctors are a waste of time every time you ask a nuro about any cure for MS the answer you get is it long way just ask your own nuro and c for yourself. It make you wonder if they really. Do want a cure for MS let's face it If there was a cure half the countrys nuros would be out of wwork 40 or 50 thousand out of pocket would anyone want to lose that much think not. And drug companys don't want a cure because they no there's a market out there for there MS drugs if there was cure they wuill loose billions.

I know the stem cell research is being carried out but do people really think this is going to give us the cure? Im sorry if this seems a silly question, i just want to know what you all really think about this cos im a bit ignorant to it all really.
