Hi Guys.

I thought i would bring you up to date with what's been happening with moi. The CFS specialist that I saw yesterday, is sending me to another specialist who has an interest in sight loss and stroke. This wasn't unexpected, as I did think my last episode of loss of eyesight, was down to something else, and not ON - over the years you get kind of used to the signals your body is sending you.

I just have to wait for the appointment and will keep you updated as I go along. In the meantime I am trying to be good, and exercise. But as you know,it isn't easy. :hearts:

Regards

Michelle

Hello Mish

Just to say really, my daughter has ME/ CFS and experiences vision loss as a symptom, don't know if that helps?

Wish that's interesting. This chap that I am seeing is a leading expert in CFS/ ME. I am due to go to Papworth ,Cambridge in June to undergo a sleep study. I have been very lucky in that this specialist advised me to go to Cambridge,as otherwise I would have a two year wait in S.Wales. I did cancel one appointment, as I wasn't well enough to travel there. Hopefully this will not be the case in June.

Thanks for letting me know about CFS/ ME .I will try and do a bit of reseach into it,as it's something that wasn't mentioned to me. I tend to err on the side of stroke, as we have a family history of TIA's and major strokes. The postion of my lesions doesn't help either. Some of them are periventricular, and can lend themselves to strokes. Either way,you can only make sure that you remain as healthy as possible. I do have to lose some weight, that is my main concern at the moment. Otherwise, I don't smoke, and I am relatively healthy

Off now to :hearts: <<< I don't fall off.But I do nearlly fall asleep on my treadmill.

Hi Mish

I don't know what type of vision problems you have, but my daughter gets blurry vision and also a lot of eye pain and losses large pieces of her vision for about an hour sometimes. She was sent to an eye specialist, who after examirnation told us its the eye muscles getting tired and weak.

I will send you all the information I have when I have more time, but for now I will send you this link

Oh sweetie - all these appointments do take their toll on you. Hope you get some answers soon

On the exercise front do you use a normal treadmill? I only ask because I can't tolerate them at all - any speed gives me the most awful pain in my ankles, as if the tendons are about to snap :monkey: I'm fine on cross-trainer machines as they provide more support - though any more than 20minutes and my feet go numb

Yeah! I indulgled in a state of the art treadmill. It looks like something off Star Trek. I always take a Baclofen before doing any exercise. I have one of those vibro plates too. Haven't used it in a few weeks though due to the chest and tooth infection. I find that the plate helps, but sometimes makes me feel sick. I get numb feet, all the time. That's why they wouldn't let me drive without a plate and hand control. Don't ask me how I manage on the treadmill. I guess it's a bit of mind over matter with me. In saying that, I am only doing 10mins at the moment. I am trying to work my way up to 30 mins of exercise a day. Lord knows if I will attain this. If I don't, then so what

That pain that you have with your tendons sounds awful. Ouch! I think it's about finding what suits you,and doing what you're able to.

Wish, thanks for that x I lost vision in one eye - it was as if someone erased everything. When it eventually came back there was a quarter of my eyesight missing. I have been told that this rules out ON,and migrane. It's more likely that i had a wee stroke. But I will certainly look at the CFS link.

Many thanks

Totally agree with you - not just in exercise but I think lots of us probably grit our teeth against whatever pain or symptoms are going on and just get on with it as much as we are able to. Makes us a pretty fab bunch really

Hello All   So from February I experienced numbness, balance issues and blurred vision in one eye. As my symptoms progressively got worse I was seen by a Neurologist and sent for Cervical Spine and Brain MRI’s.   Both showed clear of lesions and a Lumber Puncture was arranged, after 6 weeks and chasing results I was told over the phone that my CSF oligoclonal bands are positive for nueroinflammation and was told I have MS and would be referred to a specialist.   I have my appointment booked for Aug 3rd and don’t really know what to expect from it. Any advice would be appreciated and also what questions to ask.   Although many of my symptoms have eased I still have a numb left arm me, I feel a little off balance occasionally still and do get vibrations eminating from my spine when I have done too much. I work in a warehouse/DIY store. I fine fatigue is my biggest battle which is very hard as I have 3 teen sons….   Dinks

    • Seen specialist today

Was expecting to discuss medications and DMD'S with my specialist today , but instead of being told as expected that i had r&r MS i was told i have progressive MS so that went out of the window ,   he said i may still be borderline and has booked another MRI to see if there has been any new lesions since the last scan .   not something i was expecting from my first meeting with the specialist , feels like im back to where i was before DX     Mal

I am seeing one in a couple of weeks, was referred by my neurologist. What should i expect? What makes these individuals different from seeing a regular neuro? Why is it that although i was diagnosed with ms i haven't actually seen anyone other than my regular neuro who apparently isn't an ms specialist. Sorry to sound like an idiot here but i am genuinely confused.

    • Saw MS Specialist Neurologist yesterday

Hello All,   Well, I went off up to London again yesterday, on the 06.30 train !   Saw this Professor, an MS Specialst, and another Neurologist.   They once again went all through my history, test results, MRI and pointed out all the lesions where the expect to find them. Another full Neuro exam, the falling over tests, eye tests (discovered nystagmus that I hadn't had before)   Then they went off for a chat together, then they came back and did some more tests.   He (the Professor) talked about PPMS and SPMS, then said that I didn't meet the full criteria although it all pointed to MS. He then had another good look at the MRI lesions, of which there are many.   They took some more blood, and he said that he was testing for some extremely rare conditions, also looking at my copper levels ???? and for 'very long chain fatty acids'. I've had about 6 blood tests now, but I guess they didn't do these ones.   They are going to to VEP's (that they didn't do last time I was in)   Are going to review my MRI of brain and spine with some other specialists (no lesions in my spine so they are taking a closer look)   The whole thing took over 2 HOURS !! The clinic was heaving with people when I came out   I know that they must rule out everything, and I'm sure he said they are hoping to find something in the cord.   I feel very confused and a little unsettled by all this. I am just getting used to the M.S. DX, and now I feel as if the whole thing has been thrown in the washing machine. I feel dazed and a bit scared about the tests for these 'very rare' conditions, and frankly, feel as though I'm going backwards, instead of forwards.   Am to continue on my medications of Gabapentin and Baclofen, and keep up the physio, and go back in 3 months when VEP and bloods, plus the MRI review has been done.   Has anyone else gone through all this malark, even after a DX has been made, or are they just being ultra careful?   Scully x

    • Spinal Specialist

Hello all you lovely people!   I have been absent for a while, I know but am always looking in on you all. If you can remember, I had MRI head and Evoked Potentials and was dismissed by neuro following that.   I have since tried to continue as normal, not focussing on any pain etc.   I have however, had a problem with my left arm which I think I mentioned in an old post, which has now gone on for over a year.   After seeing the doctor over 5 times in that period, I finally saw a locum who has referred me to a spinal specialist for an MRI of my neck so I am really hoping I might get some answers now.   I hope you are all coping ok and are appreciating the cooler weather!!!   Love to u all   Katie
