Climate Change weather

Warmer, wetter winters (tick) and cooler, dryer summers (tick).  Current overnight temps are 10 degrees, this is autumnal weather. It's been raining and is now.  The spring was so dry I've lost every plum on one tree, and everything else either didn't flower or the fruit is smaller than normal.

No snow fall last year bar the day in September I had a new front door and a new kitchen door fitted - took the chap 8 hours and boy, was it cold. I had to put the dog's coat on her.

Butterfly populations are struggling, and are as bees are coming out of hibernation, too early often for the flowers they depend on.  This is a pollination nightmare.

Plant olives and lemons and buy a bit of fleece for the cold nights in February.  Buy wooly jumpers, and you might get away with no heating till November and off in March.  Think of the money you'll save.

Not in the least.  Green measures always save money.  But global warming is happening regardless because we as western nations cannot live within our carbon footprint.

We eat less meat now, and I hate running the gas central heating, and have a twin rate meter to use off peak electricity to avoid my washer or dishwasher sparking up the oil fired power stations.  My ikkle 17 year old Toyota car does between 45 and 50mpg, and hopefully will go on for years yet. We should for our planet's sake run cars into the ground before scrapping and recycling them.

But it is getting warmer and we must move with it, or starve.

I've always been interested in climate, back when I was working at sea we would take six hourly readings for the Met Office on the ships I was employed on. In 2007 working in the Arctic we were getting seawater temperatures way above the normal for prolonged periods, something that was difficult to pass off as just another anomaly. I had previously been on ships going as far as Murmansk and in the 1970's we were used to much colder conditions.

Anyway I am a big fan of Greta Thunberg and this a quote from her which sums it up

I did an Environmental Sciences BSc with the OU some time ago, and found space for a bit of climate change soapbox time.  I didn't think we covered it enough in the social development bit of the third year, while discussing poverty and mass movement of people.  I pointed out that we'd seen nothing yet compared to the movement of six million Bangladeshis when their land is flooded with seawater rising.
