hi all every now and again i get this horrible pain in my upper arms & shoulders. it feels like a lead weight hanging between my shoulders & elbows, is this part of the MS saga ?.there 's no pattern to this pain some days there's nothing at all, then out of the blue they really hurt. i keep trying to think about going back to work but i don't have enough good days in a row to think i could go back. one min i feel great( but that never lasts long)then the next thing i suddenly feel crap for no real reason. Iv been off work for 7 months now (thats how long iv had ms, so as i keep saying im a newbie). theres too many other little things to mention but this ones really bugging me.

Hi Suzy, I'm not diagnosed, but I get a similar feeling in my left arm. It's like when you're a kid, and someone punches you and gives you a dead arm, but it just happens. It used to happen on waking, and the life would gradually return, but now it happens a lot through the day, and I can't do stuff, like fill the kettle or open a tin, or anything really, when it happens. It usually doesn't last long, then the feeling returns.

hi suzy. Hope the nurse can help you get some relief. I have the opposite problem. My arm feels a bit light and shakes a bit. Its horrible when things dont feel right isnt it and moseso when you have pain. Im off work too. . Maternity leave (joke that is as i cant look after him) at the mo so at least i dont have to explain to my employer about my recent diagnosis. Hoping ill be ok to return by march but things dont look good right now. Is your employer understanding?

Hello Suzy,

I sympathize with this problem. Arms feeling heavy.

Get this quite a lot, the feeling that they are just too heavy, a real effort to try and lift them at all, or to simply shake the duvet, impossible when the arms get this horrid feeling.

It's almost ass bad as when the legs do it!

    • Tingles across shoulders, neck and upper back

Anyone else get these?  All other symptoms I've had in the last year have been new ones with old ones not appearing much at all.  This might be another one.  I get tingles, a bit like buzzing but not quite, across my shoulders and neck. Had it twice recently.  Lasts about five minutes.  It's not the shivers.

    • Moments with my arms

Hello Everybody,   Sincerely hope we are all doing as well as possible, and perhaps enjoying some warmer weather where you are.   I've had a couple of 'moments' that I've not experienced before. The latest one was last evening. I had passed the TV remotes to my dear husband as I was going off to bed. At that moment, both of my arms, began tingling like mad, and I simply could not lift them....at all, no power, no ability to move them, nothing, except for the intense tingling sensations.   The whole episode only lasted about 5 minutes and all returned to normal. If it was just one arm, I think I would have been concerned about some kind of stroke! But it was equally in both of them. It's only happened twice but it's a little freaky when it does.   Anyone relate?   Scully

    • Upper back, neck and arms...

Morning to one and All.   For the last couple of weeks, I've been struggling.....   In the past it's been my legs that have been the main issue, numbness, stiffness, pain and spasms etc.   Over the past couple of weeks, I've had a pain across my back, between my shoulder blades, neck pain and stiffness, and my forearms have been so very painful too. It's sort of new to me.   Sometimes it feels a little like the dreaded 'hug' but often it's just, what I can only describe as a stiffness across by upper back.....it's most uncomfortable. Anyone else?   I'm seeing the Neuro in early June so I will mention it.....perhaps I'm just getting old and arthritis is setting in !   Scully x
